Entry Categories
Athletes registered in this category will be subdivided into gender and age groups as per USAT regulations: 5 year increments from 20-24, 25-29 and so forth up to 85+. Awards for top-3 of each Age Group. This is the category for most of the seasonal triathletes and represents the majority of participants in the race.
A current professional license is required in order to compete in this category. Proof of USAT elite-membership or foreign triathlon federation equivalent ID must be presented at packet pickup. Foreign national elite triathlon license holders must purchase a USAT one-day license.
Former “ELITE” AMATEUR, also known as OPEN WAVE.
This category is reserved for those talented and very competitive age group athletes who wish to race head-to-head and/or are in pursuit of a professional/elite USAT license. These participants must be age group athletes and will not be included in the awards for their respective age group (there are separate awards for this category). Rankings are also sent separately to USAT for this wave which means you will not be ranked in your Age Group category. With fewer participants, this category is expected to be very competitive.

These categories have been created in order to increase the safety and fairness of the race. As per USAT regulations, the official minimum weight standard is 200 Lbs (~ 91 kg) for men and 150 Lbs (~ 68 kg) for women. Depending on the size of this category, the Event Director might create a sub-division per age: CLYDE up to 39/CLYDE 40+, for example. Athletes weighting above these standards are recommended to register under this category.
This category is optional for physically challenged athletes. Category also created with the overall race safety and fairness in mind.
Athletes wishing to team up with one or two other athletes shall register under the team Relay category. Each member selects to compete a certain part of the race (be it swimming, cycling or running). The team shall only proceed in the race once each member has fully completed the selected course leg. Awards for top-3 Male, Female, and Coed Teams.
